MIAMI (CBS4) – The Miami-Dade Commission on Ethics landed a new director Wednesday afternoon.
Joe Centorino was selected to take over as the county’s new ethics czar.
Centorino has served as the chief of the Public Corruption Division of the Miami-Dade State Attorney’s Office for the last 16 years. Before that, he was a prosecutor for the Miami-Dade State Attorney’s office.
Centorino will take over for Robert Meyers, who stepped down amidst questions concerning his own ethical judgment, according to CBS4′s Jim DeFede.
Meyers held the top post ever since the commission was founded, around 13 years ago.
Centorino’s contract will be negotiated after a background check is completed.
